Product Selector
Concepts
The Product Selector is a straightforward implementation after the Parts module has been configured properly. Recall that you can have different attributes for each Part Family when the Parts module was configured.
Now, in order to configure the first pass of the selector, you just need to specify, part family by part family, as to which of the attributes are searchable, which are to be shown on the results page.
Once this is done, you can review it and provide additional feedback as needed. The NEHANET Services team will customize the look and feel of the selector to match your website.
Capabilities
Attributes per product family
The Product selector module is quote flexible to support a different set of attributes for each product family. So a Oscillator can have a different set of Attributes than a Amplifier. These are specified in the NEHANET Business rules XML and can be updated at any time.
Results attributes per product family
When you configure attributes for a product family, you can also specify what attributes to show on the results page on the right frame. With this capability, you can control the layout of the results page by showing the more important attributes and showing all in the product details page.
Searchable attributes per product family
When you specify attributes for a product family, you can designate which of the specified attributes are search-able so it is available in the left frame for narrowing down the search results. By using this feature, you can avoid attributes like description, links, etc from being search-able.
Setting or Changing the columns order
To change the Order of the columns for a particular Product Family, you need to go the XML editor and set the order variable under the partsDef definition for that product family. The partsdef section also contains variables such as displayable=yes|no and searchable=yes|no which control the behaviour per the sections above.
